One-on-one physical therapy for hip arthritis, hip stiffness, and groin pain. We work out what is actually driving your pain — joint, muscle, or tendon — then rebuild strength and load, step by step.
Hip joint pain has a pattern: it is usually felt deep in the groin or the front of the hip, and it can spread to the buttock, the thigh, or even the knee. Hip osteoarthritis is a whole-joint condition — cartilage, bone, the joint lining, and the muscles around the hip all change together. It is not simple “wear and tear,” and it does not mean your hip is worn out.
Diagnosis is mainly clinical — your story, plus movement and strength testing. X-rays often lag years behind symptoms, and many people with “severe” X-rays have no pain at all. We treat you and your function, not your scan.
Every major guideline puts the same three things first: education, progressive exercise, and weight management when it is relevant. Done properly, this changes outcomes — in research, even people with advanced hip OA who completed an exercise and education program needed a hip replacement less often, and later, than those who did not. And if surgery ever is the right call, you will go into it stronger.
Hip arthritis involves the whole joint — and the muscles around it weaken, which makes the joint’s job harder. Cartilage also needs regular load to stay healthy. Resting more is rarely the answer.
X-ray changes show up in many pain-free hips, and severe-looking scans can hurt very little. Pain and function — not the image — guide the plan and any decision about surgery.
Strengthening and education are the best-supported care for hip arthritis at every stage. The goal is a hip that tolerates walking, stairs, training, and long days again.
These are uncommon, but they need medical assessment first — we will tell you directly if that applies to you.
Your program is matched to your pattern — joint arthritis, groin or tendon overload, or a mix of both.
History — including your sport, work, and activity history — plus hip movement, strength, and gait testing. We also sort out where the pain is really coming from: the hip joint itself, the groin muscles and tendons, or your back, because each one is trained differently.
The gluteal and deep hip muscles protect the joint and control the leg. We rebuild them with progressive loading, dosed to what your hip can handle today and increased as you get stronger.
Cartilage needs load to stay healthy, and pain does not always mean damage. We pace walking, stairs, and training so the hip gets enough stimulus to adapt — without the boom-and-bust cycle of flare and rest.
Groin pain in active people often involves the adductors and nearby tendons. We use graded strengthening — including adductor work — with clear pain rules: some discomfort during training is acceptable if it settles by the next day and your strength keeps climbing week to week.
A stiff hip moves poorly and overloads the back and knee. We restore the rotation and movement your hip has lost, and retrain the patterns you use daily — squatting, stairs, getting out of a car.
If weight is part of your picture, we address it honestly and without judgment — every pound matters across the hip joint. Sleep, general activity, and other health conditions are part of the plan, not an afterthought.
